Phone calls and texting while driving has become the latest
form of distraction on Nigerian roads, causing over 430 fatal accident last
year. The likelihood of getting in an accident increases 23 times while
texting and driving. So, aside from the laws making texting and phone calls
while driving illegal, it's downright dangerous. Your primary concern should be
the safe operation of the vehicle.
- To avoid collisions arising from the use of cellphones
- Turn the phone off before you start driving. Let callers leave a message
- If there are passengers in the vehicle, let one of them take or make the call. If you're expecting an important call, let someone else drive.
- If you have to make or receive a call, look for a safe opportunity to pull over and park.
In a split second you could ruin your future, injure or kill
others, and tear a hole in the heart of everyone who loves you. So think twice
before you pick that call while driving bcos you'll survive a missed phone
call, you might not survive a collision!
